Yesterday the largest machine on Earth was officially set in motion. Large Hadron Collider will enable scientists to see what happened a split second before origin of the Universe.

Joanna Chojnacka from Lodz won one of the most famous and original contests in the history of the world, that is a space-flight.

Sun eclipse in Poland

Eclipse has been visible almost throughout whole Europe, Asia, northern Canada and Greenland. Partial eclipse of the sun could be also observed throughout whole Poland. The most visible was in Suwalki, where the moon covered almost one-third of the Sun.

Asteroid glided past Earth

Around 5 p.m. yesterday binary asteroid 2008 BT18 passed our planet. There was no danger. 2008 BT18 passed Earth at a safe distance of 2.24 million kilometers.

NASA awarded Polish students

The U.S. Agency for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Astronomical Research Institute (ARI) awarded Polish students, who, this spring, took part in the international program of objects near the Earth observation.
