First degree of avalanche risk is currently in force in Tatra Mountains since Saturday. Tatra Voluntary Emergency Rescue Service (TOPR - Tatrzańskie Ochotnicze Pogotowie Ratunkowe) advises tourists not to hike on routes above shelters.

On Kasprowy Peak (Kasprowym Wierch) is already 45 cm of snow. Over the next few days snow and freeze rain are expected.
Snow layer in the mountains is generally fixed and stable. Spontaneous descent of small avalanches is possible in the form of so-called slides, especially when the snow is wet.
