The Cooper-Roof Palace in Warsaw
More than 12 million Euro cost the four-year-long renovation and reconstruction of The Cooper-Roof Palace in Warsaw. - There has been rescued a monument - said the director of the Royal Castle Andrzej Rottermund. Complex renovation of The Cooper-Roof Palace in Warsaw was made between 2004 and 2008.
Summing up the whole renovation of The Cooper-Roof Palace in Warsaw, Rottermund underlined that it is one of the most important buildings in Warsaw. - First of all because its location is essential for the hole panorama of the city, secondly it is a building which was demaged only partially during the war and preserved its, so called, monumental substance - said the director of the Royal Castle adding that "through many years the building was falling into ruin just in front of us".
The Cooper-Roof Palace, one of the most precious monuments in Warsaw, received its baroque form in result of reconstruction works in 1720-1760 and its name - because of the rare, at that time, roof covered with cooper-plates. Rescued during the war and reconstructed in 1948-1949 it was used for administrative and office purposes.
52% of the cost was covered by the European Union, 33% from the resources of the Royal Castle and 15% from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
