New Polish-German conflict ?
“Germany, the biggest economy in the European Union, will not open their markets for the Polish workers in May according to what was established.” wrote “Dziennik”.
We will have to wait another two years till 2011. Angela Merkel, German Chancellor, is afraid of the economic crisis. It can considerably influence our relationship with Germany.
According to the Accession Treaty every member of the “old” European Union has right to keep its market closed for the “new” member states for five years since the expansion of the European Union. The term has already expired. In this case only emergency coincidences could deprive us of right to work abroad.
“Germany believe that the crisis is such an emergency situation and this argument will be used in Brussels to give reasons for the unfavourable decision for Poland.” wrote “Dziennik”. It is possible that Austria will follow Germany.
