Season workers from Poland once again want to pick up German asparagus. According to German sources this is due to financial crisis and high exchange rate of Euro to Zloty.

In his statement, Kurt Eikemeier a spokesperson of Federal Work Agency, concluded that 3.5% more permissions for season work were given this year than last one, which boosted the total to around 88 thousands.

Most of those permissions (53 748) were given to Poles. The second largest number was issued to Romanians (28 682).

In western lands of Germany an hour’s work is worth from 5.55 to 5.70 Euro. In eastern lands this rate is form 5.10 to 5.55 Euro. According to “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” the rate in Brandenburg was 4.62 Euro and now is 5.18.
