Less foreign tourists in Polish hotels
The number of foreign guests in Polish hotels has decreased. Last year about 9% less foreigners paid a visit than in 2007 – can be read from a report prepared by Tourism Institute. However there was an increase in number of Poles using hotel services.
According to Tourism Institute’s data the last term of 2008 saw a slump of foreigners using overnight accommodation in Poland (that includes not only hotels, but also hostels and private accommodation) of over 15.2 per cent. Last year tourists made around 13 million journeys to Poland, which is about 13 per cent less as a year before.
However no radical conclusions should be made out of this data as year 2008 was unstable and difficult for the whole hotel sector in Europe. The usage of hotel rooms in European Union dropped on average by 3.7 per cent.
