Nihil novi by BMW Sauber
Yet another disastrous weekend for BMW. Robet Kubica finished 18th and Nick Hiedfeld was 17th during qualifying session for Monaco Grand Prix tomorrow. If anyone believed that this season could be saved for BMW, now should have no more doubts.
First problems started during Thursday’s practice sessions. During the first one both drivers had problems with breaks and covered just 2/3 of planned distance. To make things worse during Robert Kubica’s car bursted in flames during the second practice period. The third session was to answer how competitive BMW’s are. The results were bad.
Monaco street circuit is known for two things: celebrities who attend it and for lower aerodynamics influence. That means that well constructed cars without double diffusers are not in a worse position from the beginning. For this reason poor results of Robert Kubica and Nick Hiedfeld mean just one thing. This year BMW car is a total disaster.
This story reminds about Honda team that pumped enormous resources into their car couple of years ago just to mess everything up. However successful Brawn GP is a successor of Honda, so we can only hope that Robert will be able to celebrate his success next year.
Qualifying session was won by Jenson Button from Brawn GP nad Kimmi Raikkonen from Ferrari was second.
