Robert Kubica did not finish the race
Robert Kubica had another bad weekend. On Thursday his racing car caught fire. During qualifications he finished 18th (the worst result in history of his starts in F1) and today he did not finish the race.
Robert Kubica started the race from 17th position, as Lewis Hamilton had to start from 20th position because of new gearbox in his car. He lost one position during the start and then he had a problem with his tire and had to make an additional pit stop. He was last loosing more than 20 seconds to Timo Glock and started to lap quite well. After 30 laps he was just 2 seconds behind Glock’s Toyota, but unexpectedly went to the pit stop again. That was the end of the race for him.
“I am disappointed, but with this car I had no chance anyway. I don’t know what exactly happened to the car, but that was suspension problem” – told Kubica, asked by a Polsat reporter. It turned out after the race that there was a problem with brakes in Kubica’s car.
The whole race was won by Jenson Button, who won 5 out of 6 Grand Prix this year, second was his Brawn GP partner Rubens Barichello and Kimi Raikonnen from Ferrari. Seven drivers did not finish the race.
