Chair of Chancellery of the President exposed BOŚ for losses
Bank Ochrony Środowiska might have lost even 120 million zloty (27 million euro) because of irresponsible activities of Piotr Kownacki – chair of Chancellery of the President Lech Kaczyński – informed Radio Zet. Kownacki was vice-director of the bank since 1999 till 2001. He was responsible for investments connected with Polish Health Service.
All liabilities that were in bad financial condition were bought for less than 90 % of their value. Despite of this convenience, BOŚ was paying 100 % (instead of 90 %) for those liabilities and 70 % for interests. Of course nobody have ever drawn conclusion about this case – wrote controllers in a special statement that was delivered to Radio Zet.
Kownacki said that shareholders had known about everything and agreed for his activities. This case is so serious that the Agency of Internal Security and prosecutor’s office started their investigations. It may be possible that the money was transferred in order to finance an election campaign of one of well known parties.
The Chancellery of the President gave its statement about this case: “All allegations are not true and based on anonymous information. It is interesting that those fact have been revealed after 8 years”.
