Paweł Adamowicz who is president of Gdańsk, many Members of Parliament, well known politicians and officials from different institutions laid wreaths on a grave of Shipyard’s Workers killed in June 1989.

“We are here to celebrate our independence and pay tribute to those who paid for this independence with their lives. Maybe we would not be here without their sacrifice” – said priest Maciej Zięba who is chair of the European Centre of Solidarity. He also opened an exhibition titled “The Odyssey for Democracy” that shows Polish way to independence. There can be seen around 60 pictures and model of famous round-table. The exhibition is presented at the square of “Solidarity”.

Next part of the celebration is ceremonial mass said by Cardinal Józef Glemp and archbishop Sławoj Leszek Głódź. Also Polish authorities including Lech Kaczyński will take part in this celebration. After the mass there will take place an international conference titled “Solidarity and collapsing of communism”. 4th June celebrations will be finished with spectacular music concert of The Scorpions and Kylie Minogue.
