- If there had not been Solodarność movement in Poland,a fall of our wall would not have been possible – said Klaus Wowereit, a mayor of Berlin.

Klaus Wowereit together with Polish capital’s mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz Waltz took part in opening of German event called “20 years of freedom – Germany wants to say thank you”.

This event, consisting of photo exhibition, concerts and film projections, was organized in Cracow’s main square under a patronage of German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

- Twenty years ago a Berlin Wall had fallen. It was possible thanks to brave people in Poland who fought for freedom. Solidarność showed Germans that they too can fight for their rights – concluded Wowereit.
