Who is the most important for Polish society?

The most important person from last 20 years is our pope – John Paul II, who is ahead of Lech Wałęsa and Aleksander Kwaśniewski – informed “Rzeczpospolita” and its surwey carried out by Gfk Polonia.

As much as 73 % of Polish citizens said Karol Wojtyła (John Paul II) was the most important person while 63 % said that it was Lech Wałęsa. 32 % supported Aleksander Kwaśniewski.

Polish society chose also most important events that took place in our country within last 20 years. According to 64 % the most important event was joining the European Union. Also our NATO access was important, supported by 46 % of Poles. 45 % of us is very happy that they can travel without any problems.

What was the biggest failure? Polish people showed high unemployment – 61 %, corruption – 59 %, bad situation of Health Service – 54 %, dishonesty of politicians – 53 %.
