Slovaks shop in Poland
After joining the Eurozone Slovaks started to do their shopping in Poland more frequently. Only in May 250 thousand people crossed the border in Chyzne. Media in Slovakia report about mass exodus of Slovak shoppers to Poland. A poll made in May raveled that 45 % of all Slovaks regularly shop in Poland!
Our southern neighbors visit Poland by car or buy bus. Some travel even several hundred kilometers from such distant locations as Austrian or Hungarian border. Market days in Nowy Targ and Jablonka are becoming more popular every single week. During those two days (Thursday and Saturday) there is a seldom view of queing cars at the border in Chyżne comming from Slovakia. Some travel agents have sniffed a good business and started to organise 1 day trips to Poland for a dozen of Euros.
