“Baltic Arena” in Gdansk situated on biological bomb
Building of very modern Euro 2012 arena in Gdansk may be delayed for many months and cost 10 million zloty more (2.3 million euro) than it was expected – writes “Rzeczpospolita”.
Construction workers found thousand tons of stinky leathers, bones and other organic things. As it turned out there was a cemetery called “mogilnik” which also contains mercury which is harmful for people. This unfortunate discovery may delay building of “Baltic Arena” – one of four main stadiums of Euro 2012.
Discovered cemetery is currently covered with soil while it should be removed as fast as it is possible. It is not possible to leave those organic substances because of health and safety law regulations. The company which was responsible for preparing grounds was supposed to have finished its works until last Monday...but they so far the company have not started because of this discovery.
A strategic investor, that is “Bureau of the investment Euro 2012” tried to underestimate the cemetery and promised that those waste would not be harmful for people. Director of the bureau – Ryszard Trykosko assured everybody of safety of the cemetery. “I am sure that there are not dangerous bacteria” – said the director. But he was wrong.
