Remains of John Paul II may be taken to Poland
Vatican redaction of the National Italian TV – RAI proposed to take remains of John Paul II to Poland for a while after his beatification. The initiative of RAI was announced by the editor-in-chief of this TV – Giuseppe De Carli.
According to RAI it would be the last pilgrimage to home country of Polish pope. John Paul’s relics would visit every big city in Poland, because the pope loved our country so much.
Giuseppe De Carli explained the initiative came from secular communities in Italy and journalist who analysed John Paul’s testament. Karol Wojtyła wrote in his testament that e wanted to be buried in Poland if possible. But next he left the decision to cardinals who decided to bury the pope in Vatican according to the tradition. So the idea of the pilgrimage of pope’s relics to Poland would be partly fulfilment of his will.
