Ministry of Foreign Affairs: It will be easier for Ukrainians to cross the border
All possible procedure simplifications for Ukrainian citizens has been made - said Piotr Paszkowski, a spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This way he commented the information that Ukraine would like Poland to stop charging visa fees.
Project of such changes was given by Ukrainian Head of Diplomacy Kostiantyn Jelisiejew to Polish Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrzej Kremis during their meeting in Kiev last week. Polish visas (just Polish not to Schengen zone) are theoretically free of any fees. However Polish authorities charge 35 Euros for aplication's examination. Ukrainians want Poland to stop charging this fee. As it was written in a communicate aired by Polish Press Agency, Kiev wants this fee to be dropped just for long term visas at the moment.
However Piotr Paszkowski notices that more than a half of applicants pay a reduced rate for teenager under 18 years old, pensioners, students, families of Ukrainians that have legitimate right to stay in Poland.
Poles, as well as other citizens of EU Member States travel to Ukraine with no visa.
