What is a governments solution for increasing budget deficit? Going back to 40 per cent tax for the richest people, increasing VAT tax (Polish 22 per cent is one of the highest in Europe anyway) and excise tax. This way a 50 billion zloty (11 billion Euros) budget gap could be patched up.

Those issues were supposed to be discussed during a confidential meeting of Civic Platform (PO) and Polish Folk Party (PSL) representatives according to Radio ZET. The same source reports that Treasure Minister Jacek Rostowski was to admit the budget gap this year could be as huge as 50 billion zloty (11 billion Euros)
