The Museum of Tatra Mountains has its new branch
Permanent exhibition of Zakopane and ethnographic collections will be available for tourists in a new branch of the museum of Tatra Mountains in Zakopane. The branch was opened on Wednesday.
The branch of the museum of Tatra Mountains is placed in an old fashion peasant cottage owned to Gąsienica-Sobczak family. This peasant cottage was built in 1830 and extended in XIXth century.
One of chambers contains the collection of ethnographic culture and collection of Maria and Bronisław Dembowscy. The family arrived to Zakopane in 1885 in order to cure themselves. After several months they started being impressed about folk craft and decided to start their collection. Their collection (collected from 1886 till 1893) counts 400 exhibits including paintings, ceramics and shepherds’ equipment.
