Robet Kubica eliminated in first qualifying session
Bad car and bad luck – those two factors describe not only the qualifying session for tomorrow’s German GP, but the whole season for the only Polish driver in Formula 1.
Today he had problems with tiers’ temperature at the beginning and later it started to rain, so he could not compete with drivers who had finished their laps on the dry track. He will start from 16th position to tomorrow’s race.
The qualifications were won by Mark Webber, for whom it was the first pole position of his entire career. Brawn GP duo of Rubens Barichello and Jenson Button have managed to snap places 2 and 3.
There were also some surprises. The positive were Adrian Sutil from Force India getting a 7th time, and McLaren landing on 5th and 6th position. This shows that it is possible to improve a car that is underperforming at the beginning of the season.
However it is questionable if BMW knows how to do it too. They tend to have problems with car evolution, which symptoms were present last season, when they started with a very good car, but were not able to keep it at the top at the end of the season. This year the challenge is greater, as the car was bad from the beginning. Unfortunately BMW fails the task this time.
Robet Kubica should take that into consideration, when looking for a job next season, because staying with BMW will definitely not help him to climb to the top.
