Best known Polish bicycle racing stage race starts today
Best known Polish bicycle racing stage race - Tour de Pologne starts today in Warsaw. Many famous world cycling stars will take part in it, for example: Ivan Basso or Alessandro Ballan.
The race usually takes place in September but this year it starts little bit earlier because of cancelling German race – Deutchland Tour. It means that best road cyclist will come to Poland in order to win the race. Italian teams: Lampre with the best young cyclist – Alessandro Ballan and Polish cyclist Maciej Sapa, Liquigas with Ivan Basso and Polish stars – Sylwester Szmayd and Maciej Bodnar decided to come to Poland. “I want to win our most popular race” – said Sylwester Szmayd.
The race goes through Warsaw, Białystok, Lublin, Rzeszów (flat terrain), Cracow and Zakopane (the mountain stages of the race). The most interesting and difficult should be the stage from Krościenko to Zakopane.
Besides mentioned Poles (Szmyd, Sapa and Bodnar) we will see Michał Gołaś from Vacansoleil, Bartosz Huzarski form ISD and Polish Team with Marek Rutkiewicz as a leader - informed Polish Press Agency.
