Cigarettes contraband stopped at the Polish border
For the long time Polish-German border was one where cigarettes were smuggled across, because of price difference in both countries. However this illegal practice moved to Polish eastern border after we joined European Union. This time 1 million cigarettes were confiscated.
Polish customs said the driver of a Ukrainian truck carrying tires was arrested at a Lithuanian border crossing for attempting to smuggle 1 million cigarettes. The driver thought that getting into the customs control free Schengen zone in Lithuania will do the trick. However he was controlled by Polish custom officers in Budzisko crossing.
