Robert Kubica and Nelshinio Piquet Jr. could be Piquet Sports drivers next season. This team could be set up on ashes of BMW Sauber.

Nelson Piquet Senior is not only a three-time Formula One world champion, but also a successful businessman and owner and manager of his own Formula Three and Grand Prix Two racing team, where drivers start before moving to F1.

He came up wit a plan of taking over BMW-Sauber Team (Piquet and BMW do have a history together, when back in 1983 Piquet finished as world champion for a second time, driving a Brabham car powered by a BMW engine) after his son was sacked from Renault.

Some journalists (who do not understand F1) say that this situation would be good for Kubica, because he would be able to stay in F1, as his current contract with BMW ends in 2010. In reality however formation of new team would be a nightmare for him. He would be forced to drive in a team with uncertain future and he would be driver number 2 in his team supporting very average Nelshinio. On the other hand, when BMW-Sauber cease to exist with no takeover, his contract will be null and void and he will be able to look for a new job. That gives him numerous possibilities, as most teams have not signed drivers for next season yet. It means that he could go even to Ferrari, but he could not get a contract at all. The second scenario is highly unlikely as he is considered to be one of the best drivers in F1 along Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel  and Lewis Hamilton.
