Poland develops unevenly
The division between industrialized Poland A and poor Poland B is getting even greater. This division can be even seen in use of European Union subsidies – “Puls Biznesu” reports. The daily calculated how much UE money per person did Polish provinces get.
The West Pomerania tops this ranking with 2 897 złoty (700 Euro) per person. Lubelszczyzna Province is the last with only 1 659 złoty ( 400 Euro).
The newspaper highlights that Poland has used over 90 billion złoty (22 billion Euro) until now this year. Polish beneficiaries such as small companies or universities have signed deals for over 152 billion złoty (36 billion Euro), which means that statically an average Pole has become 510 Euro from EU. However the difference between the best and the worst provinces is 300 Euro.
The western side of the country has managed to use more money than the eastern one that is traditionally considered to be poorer. As a result the division between industrialized west and pictures east is getting even bigger than before.
However there are special funds for poor European regions that can be used by eastern provinces only. The only question is if those regions will be able to use the opportunity given to them by the EU.
