Last championship tournament was very successful for Polish sportsmen. Our team won eight medals while Anita Włodarczyk broke a world record (there was only one another sportsman who did it as well. It was Usain Bolt).

Polish team finished general classification on fifth place, outstripping Germany, Great Britain or France. It is best ever championships for Polish athletes. In Edmonton (2001) we won “only” five medals.

These are Polish medallists from Berlin: gold medallists: Anita Włodarczyk (hammer throw), Anna Rogowska (pole vault). Silver medallists: Monika Pyrek (pole vault), Szymon Ziółkowski (hammer throw), Tomasz Majewski (shot-put). Bronze medallists: Sylwester Bednarek (high jump) and Kamila Chudzik (heptathlon).
