Ruch Chorzów fans should support in Polish
Couple of weeks ago a huge flag with "Oberschlesien" sign appeared in Ruch Chorzów stadium. The sign means Upper Silesia in German. It was so controversial that Polish Football Association (PZPN) banned it from the stadium. Ruch Chorzów supporters should support in Polish - we can read in decision's justification.
The controversial flag appeared 6 years ago for the first time, but it vanished quickly just to apper again this season. It became famous last week when Ruch hooligans made a happening by hanging 100 meter long transparent on the barriers of the pitch that said: " Article 35 of Polish Constiution guarantees all citizens of Poland that belong to national minorities right to development and preservation of their own language, culture and customs".
However PZPN was unimpressed. "Stadium is not a place to show your own sympathies or political views. Flags should have only sport symbols or fair play symbols. Nothing else will be allowed' - said Waldemar Podsiadło from Football Association.
