Roman Polański detained by Swiss police
Roman Polański who is one of the best film directors has been detained by Swiss police and it is possible that he will be extradited to the USA.
His detention is connected with the crime that well known Pole committed in the USA…in 1978. The director is accused of having sex with immature girl what was classified as a rape. According to American jurisdiction Roman PolaÅ„ski seduced 13 years old Samantha Gailey and had an sexual intercourse with her. PolaÅ„ski was detained in 1977 and spent 42 two days in psychiatric hospital but then decided to escape to France. Since 1977 PolaÅ„ski has never been in the USA. The girl forgave PoalaÅ„ski his irresponsible behaviour but American jurisdiction seems to implacable. All PolaÅ„ski’s motions and requests have already been dismissed what means that he can still be punished.
PolaÅ„ski who is both Polish and French citizen asked for help and the answer came very fast. Polish well known artists like: Andrzej Wajda, Feliks Falk or Janusz Morgenstern have sent a letter to Polish president who should intervene in PolaÅ„ski’s case. Also Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs – RadosÅ‚Ä…w Sikorski promised to help.
