The Warsaw Uprising collapsed 65 years ago
October 2nd 1944 is a date of collapsing of The Warsaw Uprising. That day two leaders of the uprising and soldiers of Home Army (Polish resistance organisation during World War II) – colonel Kazimierz Iranek-Osmecki “Jarecki” and colonel Zygmunt Dobrowolski “Zyndram” signed the act of capitulation.
The agreement was signed in a SS Headquarter of Obergruppenfuchrer – Erich von dem Bach in Ożarów. The Warsaw Uprising was the biggest military action in occupied Europe. The planning lasted only several days, while the uprising more than two months. Polish soldiers and young people wanted to liberate our capital which was absolutely occupied by German army and it officials. The uprising begun on 1st August 1944 and lasted 63 days what showed that Polish resistance was very strong.
