Polish sportsmen got their medals for....1999 Championships in Seville

Polish relay team (4 x 400) was given gold medal for Athlete’s Championships in Seville in 1999. This situation occurred because American team has been disqualified for illegal doping.
“I should have expected that. Americans have always been ahead of investigators from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). I was really angry about that. I knew that we were better team but we had no chance with them. Today we know why. I am very proud that we were able to achive such a big success without illegal doping” – said Robert Maćkowiak who was a member of Polish team.
