7 candidates for the title of the best writer of Central Europe
The jury of the Prize for the Best Writer of Central Europe has announced a list of finalist of the contest. The main prize – “Angelus” is awarded to authors writing prose translated in Polish. Two Polish writers will have chance to win the prize: Krzysztof Varga and Inga Iwasiów.
The prize is awarded in Wrocław by the local government and popular daily “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” to living writers. Every Polish publisher has right to propose one candidate for the prize (one Polish and one foreigner). The contest consists of 3 main parts: first selection when the jury chose 45 titles, second selection which leaves only 14 books and then 7 finalists. The jury consists of well known people connected with art and literacy like: Piotr Kępiński, Julian Komhauser, Ryszard Krynicki, Tomasz Łubieński, Krzysztof Masłoń, Justyna SObolewska or Andrzej Zawada. The winner will be given special statue designed by Ewa Rossano and cheque for 150 thousand zloty (35 thousand euro).
