Poland’s unemployment rate is up to 10.9 per cent
According to Associated Press Agency that quoted the Central Statistical Office the unemployment rate in Poland was 10.9 per cent in September. It means that it has moved up by 0,1 per cent in comparison with August. It means that 1.7 million people in Poland are registered as jobless.
Although this figure is the highest in a while it is lower than predicted by Labor Ministry three months ago. The lowest rate was recorded last October when only 8.8 per cent of Poles were unemployed. The worst rate of the decade was noted in February 2003 when one in five Poles could not find a job.
Many people emigrated in two following years, when Poland joined EU, which allowed the unemployment rate to be pushed down a while. Some experts ay that the number of unemployed people is rising not only due to the crisis, but also due to the fact that some people, who left Poland in 2004-2005 decided to come back, when they lost their jobs other EU countries.
