Polish „Righteous Among Nations” will visit Canada
Polish people awarded with „Righteous Among Nations” prize will go to Canada in order to take part in a conference in the Federal Parliament of Canada and other accompanied events.
“It is second foreign visit of „Righteous Among Nations”. The first on took place last year when those people flew to the USA and took part in a celebration paying tribute to people who died as a victims of holocaust” – explained Ewa Jończyk-Jurecka form the Chancellery of the President.
„Righteous Among Nations” are those who helped Jewish people to survive during World War II. They did not fight with a gun but saved many Jewish lives so today we can call them – ‘heroes’. They have to bear testimony to the truth and explain their heroic fight and activities” – said Jończyk-Jurecka.
This year they will visit Canada and take part in: a conference in the Federal Parliament of Canada, meeting with young students from Carleton and McGill University and meet with Jewish people living in this country. “The main goal of this visit is to pay tribute to people who were heroic during the war and show the truth connected with holocaust” – said Maciej Kozłowski from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which organizes the visit. Polish „Righteous Among Nations” will go to Canada with Ewa Jończyk-Ziomecka, Piotr Ogrodziński who is an ambassador in Canada and Ewa Wierzyńska from the Museum of Jewish History.
