Poland and Russia reach gas agreement
According to Russian RIA Novosti Agency Russia's Gazprom and Poland's PGNiG have agreed to extend their natural gas contract until 2037 with an increase in supplies.
This information was given during a joint gas monopolists press conference in Moscow, where negotiations took place. "The parties have agreed to increase gas supplies to Poland and to extend the current contract until 2037," the press statement says.
It also contained information that a dispute over EuRoPol GAZ's gas transit fees and management has been settled. Despite the fact that no details on that issue were given, media reports suggested that a political agreement has been reached for Gazprom and PGNiG to have an equal 50% share in EuRoPol Gaz, thus eliminating Gaz Trading, the Polish controlled minority shareholder of EuRoPol Gaz.
The agreements will come into effect after the two governments have signed the relevant documents.
According to RIA Novosti Agency Gazprom may deliver 3 billion cubic meters gas more than in 2009, which means 11 billion cubic meters.
