Last week U.S. Navy destroyer started fire in Port of Gdynia. Three machine gun rounds were fired into the city.

It was not the start of a war between Poland and USA, but an accident that was investigated by US Navy. According to official Pentagon statement crew members were doing maintenance on the M240 guns on the USS Ramage at the time, when guns accidentally fired. This incident is said not to cause any injuries or property damage.

It is still unclear if any criminal charges are going to be pressed against the sailor. It all depends on results of joint investigation carried out by Polish military police and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service of US Army.

"It's unfortunate at the end of an otherwise perfect port visit that you would have something like this" Scott Miller, spokesman for the U.S. Navy 6th Fleet said. "We certainly regret the incident. We take it seriously. Thank goodness no one got hurt in this case” he added.
