Polish accent during a festival in New York
11 Polish events can be found in a schedule of lasting 5 months festival called “Artistic Revolution of Central Europe in New York”. The main idea of the festival is to commemorate 20th anniversary of the collapse of communism in Europe.
The festival is organized by the Public Library of New York in cooperation with cultural organizations of seven European countries.
First Polis accent is a concert of punk rock group – Dezerter, which is a good example of independent Polish stage during 80’s. The concert will take place on the 7th of November.
Since 11th till 15th of November Polish Theatre Dnia Ósmego will stage “Piołun”. The play was staged illegally in Poland, England and Italy, especially during 80’s.
10th of November is reserved for Dorota Masłowska who will be promoting the anthology “The wall in my head” and first English version of anthology from Eastern Europe titled “Dramatists before the Fall of the Berlin War”. The artist will also present “Akty desydencike: trzy sztuki”.
The festival will also present culture of other countries from Central Europe what can be seen during the exhibition – “Voices of Revolution” which should present connections between theatre, music and dance with political events from 80’s which happened in this part of Europe.
7th January is dedicated to Polish dance while since 3rd till 11th of February there will an interesting review of Polish films, titled – “Gathering clouds: Polish cinema since 1977 till 89”.
All Polish events will be organized by the Institute of Polish Culture in New York.
