Festival Poland Street Underground 2009
The festival, which is organized by the Institute of Polish Culture in London, will be started on the 13th of November. This year central idea is “Control”.
The inspiration of 3rd edition of the festival that promotes Polish culture in England is 20th anniversary of the Collapse of the Iron Curtain and famous novel by Orwell – “Nineteen Eighty-Four”.
The festival will be started with a premiere film titled “Historia Polskiego Rocka” (“History of Polish Rock”). This interesting documentary film by Leszek Gnoiński and Wojciech Słota tells the story of Polish rock stage during the Polish People’s Republic.
All invited guests will have chance to see documentary movies directed by well known Polish graduate of the Film School in Łódź – Marcel Łoziński which is said to be one of most talented documentary film-maker. There will be shown two documentary films of this director, which were forbidden by communist government. This year festival will be full of other Polish films, directed by well known Poles, like: Artur Żmijewski, Rafał Bujanowski, Jarosław Kozakiewicz, Joanna Rajkowska, Jan Simon, Rafał Jakubowicz or Katarzyna Krakowiak.
The festival is a part of POLSKA YEAR – 2009-2010 project promoting Polish culture in the UK.
