November 11th is a day when Poznań celebrates St. Maricn’s Day which is one of the most important events for the capital of Great Poland. A colourful procession will walk through the city while the citizens will be eating thousand of crescent shaped buns of Saint Marcin. 10 thousand of those traditional sweets will be given to other people in whole Poland.

Tomorrow day is dedicated not to crescent shaped buns of Saint Marcin, but to...St. Marcin who is a patron of the city. The idea of this event dates back to the Middle Ages when almost every city had its own patron. During the name day of the patron those cities were celebrating on streets or fairs.

Citizens of Poznań started celebrating this event at the beginning of 90s’ when the main street of the city – ‘The Red Army Street’ was turned into ‘St. Marcin Street’. After few years it is a real festival of joy and fan, bigger and more colourful every year. We should also mention that St. Marcin was one of most popular saints in whole Europe.
