Matejko painting moved to Vilnus to celebrate 440th anniversary of a Union

Due to 440th anniversary of Lublin Union between Poland and Lithuania a painting of Jan Matejko called "Lublin Union" is going to be presented in Vilnus for 5 months. The grand opening of exhibition titled "Lublin Union and its time in works of Jan Matejko: is planned for next Wednesday.

According to Marijus Uzorka, the curator of this exhibition, the painting is already in Vilnus and is being fitted at the moment in a building of old arsenal. The exhibition is going to be accompanied by a scientific forum " Lublin Union: the idea and its continuation".

The whole event is a part of "Presentation of Poland in Lithuania" program that was established by Adam Mickiewicz Institute. This project also involves past performances of Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, theater plays directed by Krystian Lupa and Jan Klata as well as jazz concert by Leszek Możdżer that is going to take place at the end of November.
