Robert Kubica enjoys his F1 break by taking part in WRC rallies in France using Renault Clio given to him by his current Formula 1 team. However his time in France is successful also due to other reasons.

Kubica managed to persuade his bosses to add another clause to his contract. Until now he was able to leave the team if it did not finish at least at third place in constructor’s Championship or if the team decided to leave Formula 1 during the season. However the contract said nothing about the situation, when Renault decided to pull out before the start of the season. The new clause gives Robert the opportunity to look for a new employer if such situation is a case.

Although Renault has two more weeks to make a decision, press started to speculate that newly formed Mercedes GP team (merged from Brawn GP and Mercedes that pull dot of McLaren team) might be interested in Robert’s services. If that was a case that would be great news for Polish driver as potential of Mercedes and experience of Ross Brawn make them one of favorites to the title.

However this is highly unlikely that the team is going to wait for Pole taking into consideration the fact that Mercedes was believed to form “Team Germany” with two German drivers.
