Polish pupils discovered an asteroid

The Astronomy Society members from High-school number 10 in Toruń have discovered an asteroid in Main Lane. Pupils and their teachers have made their discovery by chance, when they where observing so called killers ( objects that may threaten the Earth).

The new asteroid WY24 is not the firs discovery of astronomy enthusiasts form Toruń - they have nine other objects on their list. This school and other in Poland take part in Hands-On Universe, Europe program that gives them financial support. Professor Lech Mankiewicz fron Polish Science Academy (PAN) is the head of this project.
