The Astronomic Centre of Polish Academy of Science and The Centre of Cosmic Researches in Warsaw were given 15 million euro (3.5 million euro) for their new project – building two small research satellites. “It will be first ever Polish satellites in space” – said dr hab. Aleksander Schwarzenberg-Czerny from The Astronomic Centre of Polish Academy of Science.

“According to our plans, first satellite will be put into orbit within next two years while another one, one year later” – explained the scientist. Polish satellites are very important part of Canadian-Austrian international project called Bright Target Explorer (BRITE)-Constellation.

BRITE are small space ships weighting under 5 kilos (20x20x20 centimetres). Thanks to them it is possible to place send simple communication machines, batteries and scientific equipment like telescopes or cameras (CCD). Polish satellites will be observing bright and pulsing stars which change all the time.
