Polish basketball players with an award
Polish Basketball Association has awarded Golden Baskets, first ever prizes of the federation. There were not too many surprising awards. Marcin Gortat was chosen as a personality of the year while female prize went to Paulina Pawlak who is a captain of Polish female basketball team.
Of course, Marcin Gortat was not able to collect his prize because of his current duties in NBA, so the prize was taken by his mother – Alicia who was invited to Novotel. Besides this prize, there was also chosen the best coach of 2009. According to the jury – Jerzy Szamblen was the best candidate for the prize. This coach of Polish junior teams took fourth place during this year championship finals in Kaunas. It means that Polish U-17 team will take part in next year final of world championships.
According to the association, the gala with its awards should become a cyclic event.
