African Sting again in Wrocław

Cameroon born multi-instrumentalist will perform in Wrocław. When he was five, he started singing in a local church. His first instruments were: flute and drums. After several years of practicing he started being master in guitar playing. When he was 11, he moved to Douala and started earning money playing electric guitar. In 1980 young Richard Bona was heard by an owner of a local jazz club who offered him forming a band. In 1989, Bona moved to Paris where he started cooperation with well known French jazzmen- violinist - Didier Lockwood and assist – Mark Ducret and African born artist like Manu Dibango and Salif Keita. Richard Bona was a member of Pat Methany Group and cooperated with many famous musicians like: Michael Brecker, Paul Simon, Chaka Khan, Tito Puente, Joni Mitchell, Harry Connick Jr., Herbie Hancock, Bobby McFerrin, Harry Belafonte or Chick Correa. Bona’s style contains elements of jazz, boss nova, pop, afro beat, song and funk. Today Bona is called – “African Sting”, because he plays bass guitar, like the leader of The Police and his music is characterized by lack of music limits. Wrocław’s audience remembers his fantastic concert with Anna Maria Jopek and his band – Toto/Bona/Louka. Richard Bona will give one concert on the 14th of March 2010. Ticket prices: 60 and 150 PLN (15 and 40 euro).
