Marshal Komorowski remarks on euro in Poland
Economists are puzzled by Bronisław Komorowski’s remarks concerning entering the euro area. Harsh criticism starts to appear pertaining the astounding and bizarre statements. It is all due to the fact that according to the marshal Poland will adopt the common European currency in 20, or even 50 years.
After the worldwide financial crisis and the present crisis in Greece, Polish perspectives for entering the euro area have been delayed even up to 2015. In fact, these are the estimates proclaimed by the government. However, in order to meet this date, decisions concerning legal regulations - including the Constitution - need to be taken during the term of the new President. The candidate proposed by the PO party revealed in his interview for DGP that he has a different opinion on the notion. Being asked when Poland should enter the euro area, he answered: “Only when the European marked is developing faster than the Polish one is such a club membership beneficial to us. At present, however, when we are developing at a much higher rate, it would be us to support the European market.”
