French customs officers in the port in Cherburg foiled a smuggling attempt of 3,2 tons of cigarettes worth 816 thousand Euro. The cigarettes were found in the truck travelling between Ireland and Poland.
The customs officers while the load-control on the ferry in the port in Cherburg discovered in Polish truck 16 320 boxes of cigarettes hidden in the metal chests.
The driver was questioned and placed in the executive detention.
On the 2nd of July also in Cherburg the customs officers foiled a smuggling operation of 4 tons of cigarettes hidden in two trucks.
